One of our favourite times of year is Scholarship Season — when we get to read inspiring stories from Temagami’s bright and motivated youth through scholarships and bursaries that honour the lives and legacies of remarkable members of our community.

This year, a total of $10,000 was awarded to eight deserving students whose dedication to learning and community spirit reflect the values that define Temagami.

Together, we continue to honour the past while investing in the future of Temagami’s youth.

The Tracy Gauvreau Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Tracy Gauvreau, former CEO of the Temagami Public Library, whose passion for education and teaching continues to inspire.

Established by the Library, with the Gauvreau family and the TCF, the fund supports students in achieving the goals Tracy was never able to fulfill. This year’s recipients were Emma Mackfall-Poirier, of Temagami, and Kaiya Mongrain, of Bear Island.

The Kimmy Renaud Memorial Scholarship was established by the Renaud family and the TCF and honours Kim Renaud, remembered for her kindness, bright spirit, and love of aviation. This year’s awards went to Sarah Wert of Lake Temagami, and Desyree Cormier-Shank and Paige Prescott, both of Temagami.

The Robb Warren Hindson Memorial Bursary reflects a family connection to Lake Temagami that spans more than a century. From Clarence Hindson’s early service as Chief Fire and Park Ranger to Robb’s lifelong passion for conservation, the family’s care for the land and water continues to inspire. This year’s recipients are David Rojas Reid of the Temagami community, Kaiya Mongrain of Bear Island, and Destiny Pender-Nietlispach, of Temagami.

The TCF congratulates all 2025 scholarship and bursary recipients and extends heartfelt thanks to the families, donors, and community members who make these awards possible. Together, we continue to honour the past while investing in the future of Temagami’s youth.
